Schoharie FBLA
Attends SLC
Seven members of the
Schoharie chapter of FBLA attended the New York State Leadership
Conference at the Nevele Grande Resort & Country Club in Ellenville, NY,
April 7-9. Students had the opportunity to compete and network with 750
of their peers from across the state as well as elect the state officer
team for the 2008-2009 school year.
Melanie Junge placed
fifth in FBLA Principles & Procedures and third in Business Math.
Melanie is now eligible to move on and compete at the National
Leadership Conference.
Sigrid Kuntze was elected State Treasurer for the coming year. She is
Schoharie’s first state officer and will begin her term after attending
a week of intensive training in July in Greenwich, New York. She will
responsible for keeping accurate financial records, as well as
developing and implementing the state’s program of work for the coming
year.
The chapter is now
preparing for the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia,
June 24-29. This conference will bring together nearly 8,000 top
students and their advisors. Students will compete in various events and
attend the prestigious Institute for Leaders (IFL), a two-day intensive
program designed to hone leadership, communications, entrepreneurship,
and officer skills.
In order to help defray the costs, members are organizing several
upcoming fundraisers. They are planning a bake sale at Wal-Mart on April
19, a McDonald’s Nite on May 14 from 5-7pm, a car wash at the high
school, and a garage sale in Esperance.
