Athletic Department Athlete of the Week

Each week coaches nominate an athlete from their team for the achievements on the field, as well as sportsmanship and off-the-field leadership.   One athlete is chosen and the winner receives a certificate and is recognized during morning announcements.

Congratulations to our athletes of the week!

January 25, 2012: Bryan Stolzenburg. Bryan is a 7th grader on the Modified Boys Basketball Team. He is a hard worker and dedicated both on and off the court. He has seem improvement throughout the basketball season. Great Job, Bryan!


January 18, 2012: Hannah Bowersox. Hannah is a junior on the Varisty Girls Basketball Team. This past week (week of January 11) she had 17 points against Berne-Knox and 22 against Sharon which is her career high. Congratulations Hannah!


January 11, 2012: Alexis Bleau. Alexis is an eighth grader on the Varsity Wrestling Team. She has compiled a 22-1 record so far this season. Last weekend she won the Oneonta Rotary Tournament at 99 lbs. She is a dedicated athlete that works hard in and out of the practice room.

January 4, 2012: Connor Brown. Connor is a sophomore on the Varsity Boys Basketball Team. The coach says, "you can never tell what the score is because he plays just as hard at all times."

December 21, 2011: Kaillee VanGasbeck is a hard worker with hussle and great leadership. She is always willing to help with teammates whether it be their shooting or their position in a play. She's always motivating teammates to work their hardest and always gives 100% herself. She is a vital part of our girls JV basketball team.She can also throw a mean full court pass. Congratulations Kaillee!


December 14, 2011: Austin VanDyke. Bowling Team. Austin is a senior on the bowling team and is a great bowler, captain, friend and student. Austin has proven to be someone that the team and the coach can depend on. At every game he takes the time to shake hands and wishes the other team good luck. Austin has also proven to be a great model for the younger bowlers. He is always willing to help other bowlers and other team members really look up to him. Congratulations Austin, you really deserve this award.

December 7, 2011: Taylor Tessitore. Varsity Cheerleading. Taylor is a junior; this is her second year and she is a captain on the Varsity Cheerleading Squad. She comes ready to practice, brings her positive attitude and smile. Taylor is extremely dedicated to cheerleading, helping her teammates and having new ideas.

November 30, 2011: TJ Smith. Varsity Boys' Basketball. Ties school record with eight (8) three (3) pointers vs Spa Cahtolic  on the way to a 33 point night. Congratulations TJ.

November 2, 2011: Lucas Howland. Lucas lead his team to the sectional quarter finals and despite injuries, performed at his very best inspiring his team. Lucas has worked all season and is a great example of what a captain embodies.

October 26, 2011: Morgan Henry. Morgan is a 9th grader on the Modified Boys Soccer Team. A midfielder who is an incredible athlete that has the ability to cover both sides of the field. He has 14 goals this season, scoring 4 goals this week against Sharon Springs and Canjoharie.

October 19, 2011: McKenzie Phelan. McKenzie is a great team player on and off the field. She is the first one to share any and all of her ideas and skills. Her sportsmanship and dedication to her team and peers is outstanding. Job well done Mac!

October 12, 2011: Evan Ottman. Evan is on the Varsity Golf Team. He shot the second lowest round (out of 44) at the WAC League Tournament, made the cut from the Class C/D sectional tournament and missed the first cut of the Section II tournament by 5 strokes. In addition, he has been the first Schoharie golfer to reach the Section II Tournament. He also has been a great team leader and solid player at the top of the line-up.

October 5, 2011: Sean Hausman. Sean has proved himself extremely capable on the field and earned himself a starting position. He also played a very important role in the draw against a top seated Mayfield team. Congratulations Sean!!

September 28, 2011: Noah Valvo. Noah is a member on the Schoharie Modified Cross Country. On Wednesday, September 21 the team dominated Spa Catholic and Mayfield with Noah Valvo taking first place. On September 28 against Mekeel and BKW Noah finished second missing first by only 3 hundreths of second. Congratulations, Noah!

September 21, 2011: Craig Stalker. Craig is a senior on the varsity golf
team. He has shot the lowest round of the season, 33. In addition to playing in either the first or second spot on the team, Craig has shot multiple sectional qualifying scores. Congratulations, Craig!!
