Code of Conduct for Athletes
Schoharie Central School is a Class C school in
the Western Athletic Conference. This conference is made up of 14
schools and is the largest in Section 2. The other member schools
are as follows: Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Canajoharie, Duanesburg, Fonda-Fultonville,
Fort Plain, Galway, Mayfield, Middleburgh, Northville, Saratoga
Catholic, Schenectady Christian, Sharon Springs, and St. Johnsville.
Athletics provide an opportunity to develop
qualities of sportsmanship, citizenship, and personal discipline in
addition to physical athletic skills. Student athletes of SCS are
expected to represent themselves, their school, and community in a
positive and respectful manner.
Students should be aware that participation in the
SCS athletic program is a privilege and not a right. Regulations are in
effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. SCS maintains a proud and very
successful athletic program. This positive representation can only be
upheld if athletes’ conduct is held to a high standard.
Main components of the code include attendance,
academic eligibility, alcohol, tobacco & drugs, and citizenship and
sportsmanship. Violations to this code can range from game suspensions
to removal from the team.
All current athletes were given an Athletic Code of
Conduct. Extra copies of this document are available in the Jr./Sr. High
School Office and the Athletic Director’s office.

SCS Sports Booster Club
The SCS Sports Booster Club is a private
not-for-profit organization whose members raise money to
support “extras” for teams that may not fit into the school budget.
In addition, the SCS Sports Booster Club
awards scholarships to graduating seniors.
The club is in need of volunteers to assist in
fund-raising and activities. If you are interested, please contact Booster Club
representative
Barbara Sharpe.
Schoharie Baseball & Softball
Association
The Schoharie Baseball & Softball Association was
created to improve the Schoharie Central School baseball and softball
fields and playing equipment.
In less than two years, the Association raised over
$17,000 and rebuilt both infields, leveled the outfields, improved the turf on
the
fields, built dugouts for both the baseball and softball fields, and purchased a new
pitching machine.
The Association continues raising money
and coordinating the necessary work as needed. If you would like
to volunteer, please call Mark and Chris Quandt 295-7829, or Chip and
Diane Beninati 872-2797.
SCS Wrestling Booster Club
The SCS Wrestling Booster Club provides
our athletes with what they need to be successful on the mat. Our
primary goal is to raise funds for uniforms, equipment and traveling
expenses for competitions. We host the Dominick Kossman tournament
annually as our primary fundraiser, but fundraising also includes
smaller efforts throughout the year. We welcome and encourage new
members - the more help and participation, the more successful we can
be! Please contact Kellie and Mike Rosa at 872-9820 or Barb and
Ralph Liddle at 295-7786.
