Schoharie Central School District finances receive another clean audit
by independent accounting firm
The independent certified public accounting firm of Marvin & Company
CPAs, P.C., recently completed its audit of the Schoharie Central
School District finances for the school year that ended on June 30,
2011. The audit report stated that the District had received an
unqualified opinion. An unqualified opinion is commonly referred to
as a clean audit.
It is the goal each year for the Business Office staff to achieve
this unqualified level of performance, and it speaks very highly of
the successful efforts of office personnel. According to the Marvin
& Company audit report, a clean opinion means that the combined
financial statements "present fairly, in all material respects, the
financial position of the Schoharie Central School District at June
30, 2011 and the results of its operations for the year then ended,
in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles."
During the presentation of the report to the Board of Education,
Superintendent Sherman commended Business Office personnel Julie
Langan, Sue Schuppel, Barb Smith, and Administrator Robert Bonaker
for a job very well done. Community confidence in the operations of
a school district’s Business Office is paramount as we look at the
decrease in fiscal resources available to schools each year and the
continued criticism of education funding in New York State by the
governor and the state comptroller.
A copy of the audit report is available for review in the District
Business Office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
