Thirty Schoharie High School students were were formally recognized for their academic excellence, citizenship and overall achievement by being inducted into the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society.

Current members of the honor societies were also recognized at a March 23 ceremony at the high school.

A student applying for membership in the National Honor Society (NHS) must have an overall cumulative GPA of 89.5 or higher after the first semester of his or her junior year or senior year and demonstrate strong leadership, excellent character, community service and citizenship.

Students applying to the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) must have an average of 90 or better in grades 7 to 8/9 and likewise exhibit positive traits listed above.
