Dozens headed to NYSSMA Festival

Schoharie Central School District is sending lots of talent to the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Festival in Norwich May 10, with 46 students participating in the vocal category and 23 in the instrumental category. Several students are participating in both categories.

For the vocal category, students prepare solos from different eras, genres, languages and styles for performance before a NYSSMA vocal judge. The students are then provided with constructive feedback on how to improve their future performances.

For the instrumental category, students will perform solos from various time periods. Many students have to play contrasting styles within a single solo.
