Not so far away” a traveling exhibit on display at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Lower Manhattan. Students went on an educational tour, learned about the Holocaust and saw artifacts from Anne Frank’s home, Auschwitz and other concentration camps.

After their tour students had the pleasure of hearing from Ruth Gruener, a Holocaust survivor and author from Lvov (Lemberg), Poland. She shared many experiences from her time in hiding as a young girl. The students were very moved by her story and were able to ask her questions during her presentation

This trip coincides with our new Cultural Awareness course, a class that each seventh grader has for a quarter of the year and was a great lesson about what can happen when people fail to value the differences in others.
