When Lori Roy was a Schoharie Central Schools student considering careers, she knew she loved music and playing her French horn. She followed her passion and it brought her back to her hometown.

On April 2, Staff Sergeant Lori Roy performed with the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus to a full house at a free concert in the Schoharie High School gym. Audience members included Schoharie Elementary School nurse and proud mom Sherry Roy.

The free concert was part of the spring tour of the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus. In Schoharie, they performed “America the Beautiful,” a celebration of all there is to love about our nation, from the unparalleled natural landscapes to the warm and welcoming people. Through music, audience members were transported to the edge of the Grand Canyon, sang along with their favorite patriotic songs, and honored veterans of every generation who stepped up to defend this great land.

On April 3, members of the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus, including Staff Sergeant Lori Roy, met with students from the elementary and high schools to talk about music, their careers, education and service, and to answer questions.
