Coby Premier Scholarship

From SUNY Cobleskill:

SUNY Cobleskill is proud to announce a new scholarship program designed to target early admissions applicants who are typically the strongest applicants, yet the least likely to enroll at the College. We are also extending a special housing incentive to local high school graduates that will allow them to experience all the great things that our campus has to offer at an incredibly affordable price.

HOW DOES THE NEW PROGRAM WORK?

Scholarships offered under the Coby Premier Program will be renewable up to four years, providing the student is in good academic standing. We expect to award 250 Coby Premier scholarships to new students entering for the Fall 2019 semester. With the new program, we will strategically bundle our existing campus resources in an effort to increase occupancy in our residence halls, boost overall enrollment and retention, and increase yield in academic programs where capacity exists.

The bundling formula will include existing Foundation and state budget resources currently devoted to scholarship support and contributions from Residence Life and CAS. This new initiative will serve to enhance the vital support we receive from our scholarship and endowment donors, and create an even more robust scholarship package for students.

THREE COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM

Most scholarships will now be offered programmatically as part of the financial aid packaging process. The following three groups will each be uniquely targeted:
– New York state residents could be eligible for $2000-$4000 per year
– Out of state students could be eligible for $3000-$5000 per year
– Local high school graduates are eligible for a $4000-$6000 Coby-Wise housing grant

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW

– Scholarship consideration requires a completed FAFSA application
– On-campus housing is required for all recipients
– Coby Premier scholarships will not reduce an Excelsior “Free Tuition” Scholarship
– Available to new students Fall 2019
The Coby-Wise housing grant is available to graduates of Schoharie, Jefferson, Cobleskill-Richmondville, Middleburgh, Sharon Springs, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Duanesburg and Gilboa-Conesville
