Fields of Grace Outreach Inspiring Senior Award

SCS seniors are invited to apply for the Fields of Grace Outreach Inspiring Senior Award ($100) by completing an application (worth 10 points) and submitting it along with an essay (worth 30 points) and photo by May 3, 2019, to their guidance office or by mail. Applications are available in the guidance office.

Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of Schoharie County, NY
  • Must be a graduating senior attending a Schoharie County High School or a qualified home-school program. One award will be presented to a senior from each Schoharie County High School or home-school in: Cobleskill-Richmondville, Gilboa-Conesville, Jefferson, Middleburgh, Schoharie, and Sharon Springs.  In the event of a tie, the Award Committee reserves the right to award two individuals from the same school district.
  • Must be enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year undergraduate program for the upcoming fall semester.  (Winter enrollments must be verified.)
  • Please attach a senior photo to be used in social media, i.e. FB, website, etc. 

Essay: [30 points]

Typewritten preferred; max. 4 pages, double-spaced; attach to application. Please be sure to respond to all three parts completely.  Spelling, grammar, and mechanics will be factored into scoring.  The Fields of Grace Outreach is an organization designed to help develop the potential of youth in  Schoharie County. By engaging in positive activities, youth are able to acquire life skills and achieve success.

Part A [10 points]: Describe two or three ideas for innovative events, programs, or activities to enhance the lives of youth in Schoharie County, as well as advancing the mission of Fields of Grace Outreach.

Part B [10 points]: Thinking about your extra-curricular experiences, highlight the skills/abilities/talents you developed that will help you attain your goals in the future.

Part C [10 points]: Choose one of the innovative ideas you suggested in Part A.  Discuss how the skills you gained could be used to carry out the idea and further our mission.
