Global coders explore new skills

Schoharie Elementary students learned hands-on how to write code during last week’s Hour of Code global event. Librarian Wendy Molle led sessions throughout the week and was assisted by volunteering high school students, including Jillian Rehberg and Konrad Rumph, pictured in this article.

“Kindergarten through fifth-grade students joined schools around the world in participating in the Hour of Code,” Molle said.  “We were helped by more than 20 Schoharie Jr./Sr. High School volunteers.

“Kindergartners worked on their iPads, while first through fifth graders worked on Chromebooks. Students in kindergarten through grade 2 learned using Kodable, and third through fifth grade students learned using Code.org’s ‘Write your first computer program’.”
