“Go Home Early Drill” set for Thursday, Oct. 8

The following letter was sent home on Tuesday, Sept. 22:

Dear Parents/Guardians;

Each year, every school district in New York State is required to conduct an emergency early release or “Go Home Early Drill” as part of its Emergency Management Plan.

Schoharie Central School will be conducting this drill on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020.  We will dismiss students from school approximately 15 minutes earlier than normal.

Please expect your children to arrive home early on this date.  The purpose of the early dismissal drill is to test the effectiveness of our transportation and communication systems, in the event we need to respond to an emergency.

This is a required drill by the New York State Education Department.

Elementary School regular dismissal is 2:55 p.m.
Jr./Sr. High School regular dismissal is 1:38 p.m.
For the Emergency Early Release Drill on Oct. 8:
The Elementary School  will dismiss at 2:40 p.m.
The Jr./Sr. High School  will dismiss at 1:23 p.m.

If you have any further questions about this drill, or about Schoharie Central School’s Emergency Management Plan, please contact the Superintendent’s office.

Sincerely,

David M. Blanchard
Superintendent of Schools
