Reading to help others

Reading is cool, especially when it helps others. Schoharie Elementary students will Read for Ronald McDonald House to help families of ill children who are receiving treatment at Albany-area hospitals.

Their effort will officially launch at an Oct. 10 assembly, featuring a representative of Ronald McDonald House of Albany and a special appearance by a member of the Reading Royalty. The students will then read and collect pledges from families and friends during the next four weeks as a fundraiser for their cause.

Located at 139 S. Lake Ave. and opened in 1982, Ronald McDonald House of Albany provides a welcoming place to stay and supportive services, free of charge, for families of critically ill children being treated in Capital Area hospitals. Information on Albany Ronald McDonald House is available from Nancy Damato at ndamato@rmhofalbany.org.
