Schoharie students take first place at Siena College contest

Two teams from Schoharie participated in the Interested in Mathematics and Problem-solving and unaware of Computer Talent (IMPACT) day of activities and challenges.

These students were all recommended by their mathematics teacher, Erika Robert, as being good math students who might be interested in learning

more about the field of Computer Science. A total of 22 teams from 14 schools attended the event.

The Schoharie A team, consisting of seniors Aidan Wellman, Zach Martin, and Anna Starks as well as junior Samantha Lawyer, finished in first place out of all the teams. They competed in challenges in software engineering (building a marshmallow tower); music coding (using python language); game design (creating a Pac-man style game); and finite machines (unplugged computations).
