Austin Lints is the new holder of the wrestling wins record at Schoharie.

A Schoharie senior has set a new record for career wins! Austin Lints is now at 168 wins and counting with the season still ongoing. He broke the previous record of 167 wins over the weekend.

This is the first season that Schoharie has partnered with Duanesburg CSD on a wrestling team. That experience has been great, Austin said, and his teammates on the merged squad have helped drive him forward.

Austin has wrestled since 4th grade. He also runs runs cross country. As soon as he started wrestling in elementary school, Austin said he knew he wanted to stick with it. He credits his parents, teammates and his coaches for inspiring him along the way.

“Thanks for supporting me,” he said.

Austin broke the record during a tournament over the weekend which saw the varsity wrestling team place 3rd, with help from Zoey Lints, Jeremy Rehberg, and Tyler Lloyd. Austin Lints collected seven wins on his own to help the team and set the new Schoharie record.

Austin said that in addition to the support he received from his family, coaches and teammates, one of the important factors in his success has been working hard at practices and applying what he has learned to his matches.
