Griffin Sholtes honored w/ Eagle Scout Project of Year

Schoharie High School senior Griffin Sholtes has been honored with the Boy Scouts of America Leatherstocking Council Eagle Scout Project of the Year Award for 2018 in honor of his flagpole installation project at Fields of Grace Outreach in Cobleskill.

Griffin was among four finalists recognized at the Council’s annual leadership dinner Oct. 17 in Utica. He was announced as the first place winner during the banquet and received his award from Congresswoman Claudia Tenney.

Griffin’s Eagle Project featured the installation of a flagpole at Fields of Grace Outreach, a youth center devoted to leadership development. His project also included a footbridge, walking path, retaining wall and the planting of more than 20 lilac bushes. The site will be the setting for upcoming flag ceremonies for Fields of Grace and to honor our veterans.
