Two students attend Elevating Student Voices Program

Two SCS students have spent the year participating in the Elevating Student Voices program sponsored by Capital Region BOCES.
Nix Perrotti and Lindsay Haverly have been meeting every other month with students from across the capital district to discuss and tackle some of the challenges facing their school communities. Students facilitated conversations and participated in exercises and activities to explore topics like representation, inclusion, bias and mental health. The meetings focused on empowering students to use their voices to bring awareness, create and implement action plans and ultimately foster change in their respective communities.
Nix and Lindsay had important roles at this year’s culminating event, the Elevating Student Voices Youth Summit at Proctors Theater in Schenectady. Lindsay facilitated one of the discussion circles and Nix was one of six speakers on a panel made up of students and community leaders.
Congratulations to Lindsay and Nix for their outstanding work with this group and more recently, for their individual contributions to the Elevating Student Voices Youth Summit.
