Math Supply List & Calculator Recommendations

For Pre-Algebra, Integrated Algebra, and Introduction to Geometry

A Texas Instruments TI-30 XII or TI-30XA calculator is recommended for all students.

Integrated Geometry, Algebra II with Trigonometry, Pre- Calculus, or Calculus

A Texas Instruments TI-Nspire™ graphing calculator (or TI-nspire™ CX) is recommended for all students. (Do not purchase a TI-Nspire™ CAS – it is not allowed on high school exams)

It is important that students have the correct calculator. All instruction will be based on the above calculators only. Also, when students have the correct calculator at home they become proficient in using it. This has a very big impact on their performance in the course and on the regent’s exam.

If you purchase a graphing calculator, please save the UPC code on the package. We save them and redeem them for free equipment from Texas Instruments. We have been able to get some nice equipment, which is very helpful for class instruction. Please hand in any saved UPC codes to your math teacher in September.

If your child receives free or reduced lunch, we may be able to get them a calculator free of charge. There is a local charity called The Rolphie Fund that donates money to the school to be used to purchase things for students that can’t afford to buy them. Please have your child let their Math teacher know, or you may contact their Math teacher directly.

6th Grade Supplies

General Supplies

1 Trapper keeper OR 2 inch 3 ring binder, 1 box colored pencils, 1 box kleenex, 2 boxes of pencils, earbuds or headphones, Pencil pouch (that has holes to secure inside binder)
Refillable water bottle

ELA

• 2 composition notebooks
• Index cards (pk of 100 – lined)
• 2 Boxes of pencils (to be kept in ELA classroom)
• 1 Blue 2 pocket folder
• 1 Pkg of 3 highlighters
• 1 Sharpie
• 1 dry erase marker
• 1 box of colored pencils

Math

• 2-inch binder (this will house all of the notes we take throughout the year. The math binder needs to be separate from the Trapper Keeper/binder requested above)
• 1 folder (plastic is best for durability) to be placed inside their math binder
• Pencils (extra at home to replenish)
• Pencil pouch (3-holes to put in Math binder)
• Erasers

Science

• 1 green sturdy folder or 1-inch green binder
• 1 spiral notebook (green)
• 2 boxes of pencils (keep one in locker)

Social Studies

• 1 red sturdy folder
• 1 spiral notebook (red)
• 2 boxes of pencils (keep one in locker)
