Building Leadership Team Minutes June 17, 2019

Attendance: Shane Barton, Marion Burghart, Kevin Calacone, Michelle Griffin, Pam Guest, Jennifer McClure, Cassi Olin, Lindsay Peterson

1. Standing item: High School Building Renovation Project
a. Contractors will be working in the West Wing (1926 Building
facing Main Street) from June 18th through the rest of the
summer. This will keep work away from Regents exams.
b. New High School Office, Counseling Center, and Nurse’s Office
are scheduled to open on/about September 1st.
c. Work is going faster than expected. All contractors have been
diligent in their efforts.
Outcome: Continue to work with Shawn Gathen and the Building Project
Committee throughout this process.

2. Standing Item: School Climate
a. Our district cultural proficiency committee will meet on
Monday June 24th to discuss the results of our Equity Walk
from June 6th. Teachers did not have any feedback on how the
Equity Walk went.
b. Students and staff completed the Generation Ready Equity
Survey during the week of June 10th. Community members still
have the opportunity to take the survey through our district
website.
Outcome: Keep school climate as a standing item and focus for future BLT
agendas.

3. New item: Building Level Goals 2019-2020
a. Equity work- Those present agreed that this should be a
building level goal for 2019-2020.
b. Should we keep an Attendance Goal for one more year? Is
SchoolMessenger improving Average Daily Attendance (ADA)?
Pam Guest will look into this and report back our ADA data.
c. Academic Goal- We struggle with this goal each year. It is
difficult to find a single academic goal that reaches across all
disciplines.
i. Possibly make this our Schoology goal?
Outcome: The BLT will continue to refine these goals before the start of the
2019-2020 school year.

4. Other topics
a. Handbook updates- The BLT will meet on the following dates
to work on the handbook:
i. Thursday July 11, 2019 8:30-3:30 p.m.

b. Summer Meeting dates:
i. Monday July 15, 2019 8:30-9:30 a.m.
ii. TUESDAY August 20, 2019 8:30-9:30 a.m. (this is a
change)

Tardy Policy.
