Job Description – The Schoharie Central School District has an opening for a 1.0 FTE Probationary Special Education teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • New York State certification in Special Education.
  • Be “highly qualified” and have: A Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field and certification in Special Education; or a Bachelor’s Degree and certification in Special Education.
  • Have 1 to 2 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Strong consideration will be given to those applicants with additional certification in either Math or English.
  • Experience working in a co-teaching classroom preferred.
  • Be a strong classroom manager.
  • Be committed to meeting the needs of a diverse set of learners.
  • Have a track record of being a team player and community minded.
  • Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards.

Salary commensurate with experience according to Schoharie Teachers Association Contract.

Teacher Aide, full-time

Description of Duties – Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum and Pupil Personnel Services assist with monitoring duties, assist special education students within classroom, and any other duties as assigned. Must be able to enforce the set procedures and policies of the classroom, while maintaining a positive environment.

Shift/Schedule – 6.5 hours per day – 5 days per week , according to the school calendar. Additional hours as needed.

Teacher Aides, Part-time, Elementary

Description of DutiesSupervise children on the playground and in the cafeteria; circulate among students to ensure a safe environment. Assist students as needed and be sure they are observing school rules for safety at all times while maintaining a positive environment.

New York State law requires that the Office of School Personnel Review and Accountability conduct fingerprint-supported criminal history background checks for applicants for certification and all prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and BOCES.
