EmUrgentCare Telehealth

Schoharie CSD is partnering with Albany Med EmUrgentCare to bring telehealth medicine to our families and staff.

Registration is now open for this new service. Students will be able to participate in telehealth visits during the school day from the school nurse’s office. With parental consent, the school nurse can connect your child to a licensed urgent care provider via secure video to evaluate and treat a variety of common health concerns. Telehealth visits are expected to begin shortly after our return from winter break.

This will allow students to spend more time in school and families to avoid the disruption of medical appointments.

A similar protocol will be available for staff. More information will be coming on this.

What’s included?

As part of this program, Schoharie CSD will be equipped with specialized diagnostic devices, allowing providers to conduct more comprehensive virtual exams—such as viewing the ears, nose, and throat—to support more accurate diagnoses and care plans.

Parents/guardians would join the telehealth visit remotely or in-person and participate in the appointment, which gives you the opportunity to stay involved in your child’s care in real time. Telehealth visits for students will occur in the Jr/Sr. High School Nurse’s Office.

The following are some common conditions that can be treated via Telehealth:

  • Sore throat, ear pain, pink eye
  • Cold symptoms, fever, asthma flare-ups
  • Headaches, nausea, menstrual cramps
  • Skin rashes, impetigo, scabies
  • Minor cuts/wounds
  • Seasonal allergies, sinus or upper respiratory infections

How it works for families

  • Services will be billed through your child’s health insurance. If your child is uninsured, Albany Med Health System’s Financial Assistance Program will work with families to ensure your child receives care.
  • On-demand telehealth services connect your child directly with a local medical provider to deliver quick and quality care. Most students (approximately 98%) are able to return to class after their telehealth visit.
  • EmUrgentCare will supply specialized telehealth equipment, COVID/Flu and strep tests and over-the-counter medications for a complete evaluation from the school nurse’s office. Remember, parents/guardians should join the virtual visits and observe as the school nurse and medical provider evaluate and treat your child.
  • EmUrgentCare is able to treat students with or without insurance. With Albany Med Health System’s financial assistance program, students can get quality and affordable care.
