1. Standing item: High School Building Renovation Project
a. Bid openings on February 26th did not include a general
contractor bid. All other bids looked favorable.
b. Next round of bid openings will be on April 2nd. Contracts will
take about a month. Work is scheduled to begin in May 2019.
c. Not much has changed- the original plan had three months of
lag time in the middle of the project. That lag time has now
been eliminated.
d. Still no need for temporary classrooms in ‘52 Gym.
Outcome: Continue to work with Shawn Gathen and the Building Project
Committee throughout this process.

High School BLT Minutes March 18, 2019 Page 1
a. School visit – Members of the district’s cultural proficiency
committee visited Hastings-On-Hudson on Monday March 11,
2019 to see their junior high diversity and inclusion curriculum
in person.
Outcome: Keep school climate as a standing item and focus for future BLT
agendas.
3. Other topics
a. TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention in Schools)- Mrs. Griffin
and Mr. Dady talked about the training they received last
month. TCIS focuses on de-escalation, teaching students
strategies for coping, and getting students back in class. Mrs.
Griffin and Mr. Dady talked about the “arc of escalation” and
how to avoid and prevent power struggles among teachers and
students.
b. Honor Roll on website?- Can we add student honor roll names
to website, similar to how they are listed in the newspaper? Dr.
Calacone has already made contact with our web editor
(Monique Jacobs) to check the feasibility of this.
Agenda items for next meeting: We will discuss the recent revisions to the
Academic Success Plan.
