Students, Area Farms Present Exhibits at FFA Fair

a tent with about a hundred students is seenSchoharie Valley FFA hosted its 2022 Ag Fair today with a wide range of exhibits from both students and local farms.
 
There were some fantastic exhibits and a wealth of knowledge on display!
 
Exhibits included:
 
Maple Production with Reed VanValkenburg, Noah Dutcher, Jameson Bixby & Logan Schrader
 
The Science of Aromas in Food with Yazmin Goodrich, Molly Repicky & Dave St. George
 
Chicks & Embryology with Tom Laux & Darren Bouck
 
Caroline Borst helped students plant salsa gardens with tomatoes, peppers and herbs that will be planted in the campus gardens to be harvested by summer school enrichment students. Mandi Williams helped students plant flowers that will be planted in the cut flower gardens on campus for fresh bouquets this summer.
 
James VanWie-Goring created a model tractor display.
 
Andrew Fretto, Chloe Porter & Peyton Hahn helped students create “seed bursts” of wildflower Seeds for pollinator gardens.
 
Remington Lawyer & Blake Smart brought a dairy calf and beef heifer to let students get hands-on with cattle from Lil Rich Farms & Locust-Spring Farms along with an interactive cow display model to show animal anatomy.
 
Sierra Carr, Mollie Goblet, Griffen Lansing & Savannah Traverse brought working & therapy dogs.
 
Dalton Oliver brought his Shropshire sheep and various breeds of rabbits. We also had multiple rabbits from Delaney Baker & Adora Hardendorf.
 
Chloe Armstrong & Ox Kill Farm brought a Shire draft horse.
 
Michael White introduced students to plant science & photosynthesis with an interactive activity with plant leaves.
 
Lorelei Frederick helped students create beautiful bouquets for their teachers and parents.
 
JJ Liddle took students on a hay wagon ride with his tractor.
 
Caitlin Saddlemire also helped with horses. Additional students participating included Logan Schoeffler, Leila Holt, Madelynn Rivera & Kim Olsen.
