In a hard fought 16-round battle, 7th grader Ashtyn Hofmann won the 2026 Schoharie Central School Spelling Bee.
For the final 7 rounds, Ashtyn and fellow 7th grader Teddy Bruno went back and forth, but in the end, Ashtyn successfully spelled ‘fiberglass’ as the championship word. 8th grader Max Rosenthal finished in 3rd place.
Ashtyn will now advance to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee in March in Albany.
