The Schoharie CSD Board of Education has appointed Danielle Piel as Jr./Sr. High School Principal.
Piel is replacing David Russell, who resigned earlier this summer, citing personal reasons.
“Mr. Russell is a well-respected leader who will do well in whatever he chooses to do,” Superintendent David M. Blanchard said.
Piel, who holds a BA in English, Minor in Education from SUNY Albany and an MAT in English Education from Sage Graduate school, has experience as an English teacher at Lansingburgh School District; Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES; and Troy Middle School.
Her administrative experience includes being a summer school principal and an assistant principal at Troy Middle School. Her professional duties as both a principal and teacher included curriculum development and implementation; leading schoolwide programs to build student engagement and enhance community participation; managing day-to-day school operations; and building relationships with staff, students and families.
Piel said she is eager to start at Schoharie Jr./Sr. High School and meet staff, students and families.
“I am committed to improving student achievement and preparing students to become empowered, influential citizens,” she said.
